How do you know someone is truly and sincerely in love with you?
This has been the question going on in the minds of many people today. In as much as there are many answers can add up to answer this question, we will answer it in one word and in the simplest way ever.
SELFLESSNESS! Selflessness covers every other answer to the above question. If someone really and truly loves you, he/she
must be selfless.
Selflessness is when someone does a favor without expecting something in return. It is when someone puts you first or treats you as he/she will want to be treated. It is when a partner's happiness comes from seeing his or her partner happy. If they care without expecting payment that's selflessness. If they are faithful because they know it will be painful to cheat on you, that's selflessness. If they are so kind that they can never like seeing you hurting, that's selflessness. If they can sacrifice reasonably for you without expecting much from you , that's selflessness. If they don't expect sex as payment after a favour, that's selflessness. If they can control their anger and not hit you no matter how angry they are, that's selflessness. If they find happiness in giving, if they don't see giving you as a waste, that's selflessness... The list is unending.
No matter how an insincere or fake lover trys to hide, selflessness can't be faked for long. If they are fake, you will know soon if you are observant.
