A North Carolina college student died after falling out of a party bus and being struck by two cars Tuesday night, authorities said.
Polly Rogers, a UNC Charlotte student, was with friends en route to a bar uptown from campus when she fell from an emergency window and onto a lane at around 10:30 p.m., the Charlotte Observer reported.
Two oncoming cars struck Rogers, killing her at the scene.
Charlotte Party Charter owner Victor Rabb told WBTV the bus was carrying 55 to 60 people and believes someone might've opened the emergency window near Rogers.
"I don't know where she was sitting or standing or what," he said. "The window, of course, popped open and she fell out of the bus."
Rabb said staffers generally warn passengers not to mess "with the emergency windows unless it's an emergency."
Authorities said some people were drinking on the bus, but don't know whether Rogers was before the incident, the Charlotte Observer reported.
Rogers was a Zeta Tau Alpha sorority sister and was studying special education. No charges have been filed.
