June 12: Senate Supports Declaration, Asks INEC To Release The Election Result

Unlike the House of Reps, most senators were not against President Muhammadu Buhari's declaration of June 12 as Democracy Day.

The Senate has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the results of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

If done, this will enable Nigerians know the official results of that election, widely described as the freest and fairest in the country's democratic history.
