Billionaire Femi Otedola denies declaring intention to run for Lagos Governorship election in 2019

Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola, has countered claims that he declared his intention to run for the Governor of Lagos State in the 2019elections.

This is coming after a parody account claimed that the billionaire businessman declared his interest in the election, with his Lagos deserves better tweet. The Parody account’s post reads;
However in new tweets, Femi Otedola who noted that he is a man of the people and will always be on the side of the masses, countered claims of contesting in the 2019 Lagos State Governorship polls. His tweets reads;
My attention has been drawn to a news piece where false information from a parody account was posted. I am a man of the people and I will always be on the side of the masses but I am stating clearly via this medium that I am not running for office.
The Governor of Lagos State is doing a commendable job and Lagosians should be proud of him.
Fake accounts in my name have to have the word “parody” in their bio/profile to exist. @verified has recently paused verifications so, until I get the blue tick, please always ensure to read the bio/profile section of accounts that appear to be mine.

Recall that few weeks ago, the Nigerian billionaire endorsed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for a second term in office. The billionaire said that Ambode would make the state the third largest economy in Africa if he gets a second term in office.
In a statement, Otedola said in the last three years as a Lagosian, he had watched and followed transformation projects across the state, pointing out that Ambode was building on the foundations laid by his predecessors.
“He is building roads and bridges, schools and hospitals, water treatment plants, sewage and storm water drainages, solid waste management plants and mass transport infrastructure.
“He recently got approval for the electricity power infrastructure for Lagos, which when fully executed, will make Lagos State almost energy independent in Nigeria. You are all aware of the newly-acquired mass transit buses that are going to be natural gas powered in order for us in Lagos to be the first to comply with the global climate agenda of de-carbonisation,” he said.
