Washington was split Sunday morning over comedian Michelle Wolf's roasting of Sarah Huckabee Sanders and other Trump administration officials at the previous evening's annual White House Correspondents' Dinner.
The former "Daily Show" writer compared the White House press secretary to Aunt Lydia, a mean-spirited authority figure in "The Handmaid's Tale," a dystopian TV series.
"I actually really like Sarah. I think she's very resourceful," Wolf said, as Sanders sat a few feet away.

"She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye," she said during the blistering roast. "Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's lies. It's probably lies."
While the decades-old dinner is known for allowing Presidents and the media an opportunity to take light-hearted jabs at one another, some conservatives didn't see the humor.
"The WHCD was supposed to celebrate the 1st Amendment. Instead they celebrated bullying, vulgarity, and hate," tweeted Mike Huckabee, Sanders' father and the former Arkansas governor.
"They got all dressed up so they would look nicer when they had a hired gun savagely attack their guests. Do they really wonder why America has no respect for them? Sad!"

He noted in a second tweet that his daughter "handled it professionally but I pray her kids never see that. I pray more they never bully another person like that."
Several White House reporters also thought the act went a bit too far when it came to Sanders, but commended their workplace adversary's cool demeanor.
Wolf responded by saying she wasn't poking at Sanders' appearance.
"All these jokes were about her despicable behavior," she tweeted.
Anthony Scaramucci, who was Sanders' boss for 11 days last year during his short-lived tenure as White House communications director, also came to her defense.
"Sarah is all class and the definition of strength compassion confidence and competence," the Mooch tweeted. "She is a role model for handling nonsense and snark."
President Trump skipped out on the dinner for the second year in a row to hold a campaign-style rally outside of Washington.
While he didn't weigh in on the jabs at his staffers, he talked up the turnout at his rally in Washington, Mich., and took a swipe at Wolf.
"While Washington, Michigan, was a big success, Washington, D.C., just didn't work. Everyone is talking about the fact that the White House Correspondents Dinner was a very big, boring bust...the so-called comedian really 'bombed,' " he opined Sunday morning.
But others on social media and high-profile attendees praised Wolf's delivery, arguing that she called out the administration for disregarding the truth.
"I attended the WHCD last night," director Rob Reiner tweeted. "Donald Trump has so poisoned the atmosphere by attacking the disabled, gold star parents, Muslims, Mexicans, Blacks, women, the press, the rule of law that a comedian who simply tells the truth is offensive? She's joking. He's not."
Gun control advocate Shannon Watts likened the tough comedic approach to the pending Midterm Elections.
"If DC elites and Trump supporters are upset about the strong opinions of Michelle Wolf at #WHCD, just wait until election night November 2018," she tweeted.
