Gutwrenching video posted to Instagram appears to show takeoff of the doomed sightseeing helicopter that crashed into the East River, killing five passengers.
Videojournalist Trevor Cadigan, 26, flashed a big smile and another passenger gave a thumbs up as the helicopter departed from Kearny, N.J. with the sunset on the horizon.

The 11-minute flight ended around 7 p.m. with the helicopter slowly landing in below-40-degree waters and then overturning.
Cadigan, who worked for Business Insider, according to his mother.

The other passengers on the fatal flight were Brian McDaniel, a firefighter from Dallas; Carla Vallejos Blanco, 29, a tourist from Argentina and two helicopter employees, Daniel Thompson and Tristan Hill, sources said.
Only the pilot, Richard Vance, survived.
