A man who walked in on someone sexually assaulting his girlfriend in Brooklyn used a wooden object to deliver a nearly fatal beating to the attacker Sunday night, police sources said.
The 54-year-old man found another man, 31, sexually assaulting his girlfriend in a second-floor apartment in East Flatbush at about 6:45 p.m., sources said.
He attacked the younger man to stop the assault, swinging at him with a wooden object, possibly a bat or a table leg, sources said. They said the two men know each other, but it wasn’t clear how.
The attack took place in an apartment in the Camba Gardens on Albany Ave. at Clarkson Ave., an affordable-housing building that replaced a demolished psychiatric facility on the Kings County Hospital campus.

When police arrived, they found the younger man unconscious, with serious head injuries, cops said.
Medics took him to Kings County Hospital in critical condition.
The older man and his girlfriend were also present. Cops took him into custody, and are still investigating, police said.
