POPE FRANCIS SAYS HUMANITY WASTED 2017 WITH WAR, LIES

Pope Francis thinks humanity vati-can do better, and said that mankind had “wasted” its chance at 2017.

The leader of the world's Catholics addressed the faithful in a final homily on Sunday, and cited war as one outcome of the “absurd pride” that caused damage to people and the planet.

“We humans have in many ways wasted and wounded with works of death, with lies and injustices,” he said at St. Peter’s in Rome.

Over the last year Francis has addressed numerous issues plaguing humanity, including the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, the ongoing war in Syria, the potential for nuclear war and a lack of action on climate change.

The ceremony ending the calendar year for Francis was one focused on thanksgiving, however, and he said that he was grateful for the “contribute with small but precious concrete actions” who act as “craftsmen of the common good.”

The Pope will celebrate a mass on New Year’s Day focused on the Virgin Mary.
