A man blasted two Virginia deputies during a Christmas Eve feud with his teen daughter, officials said Sunday night, police said.
The deputies, a man and woman, are expected to be OK after being shot in the arms and legs in a bedroom of a Sterling home around 5 p.m., according to Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff Michael Chapman said deputies tried calming the irate dad down during the spate but he retreated to a bedroom.
The deputies followed him fearing he had a weapon, Chapman said. The father then grabbed a gun from a bedroom closet and fired off several shots as the deputies struggled to take him into custody.
One of the cops stunned him but a spray of bullets struck the female deputy in an arm. The second deputy, a man, was struck in an arm and both legs.
Chapman said he learned of the shooting while attending a Christmas Eve church service and is “grateful” both deputies did not suffer more serious injuries.
“It could have certainly been a lot of worse,” Chapman said.
Sterling, a town of roughly 30,000 residents, is about 30 miles from Washington, D.C.
