North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un said on Monday that his regime had completed its nuclear force in 2017 and the U.S. should know it's a reality instead of a threat.
Kim called for the beginning of mass-producing nuclear weapons and missiles and putting them into use, Yonhap News Agency reported.
He added during his annual New Year's Day address, which was broadcast on North Korean state television, that he has a "nuclear button" on his desk.
Kim's remarks come as the year was filled with tensions between the U.S. and the North, which launched several intercontinental ballistic missiles into the Pacific Ocean over the last couple of months as test runs.
