Denis Leary wasn’t shocked at the allegations against Matt Lauer because he always found the guy to be a creep.
The “Rescue Me” star slammed the now-disgraced TV journalist on “The Talk” Thursday after a number of women accused Lauer of sexual misconduct and harassment.
“I thought he was a creepy, douchey guy from the get-go,” a fiery Leary said, to a cheering audience.
“I stopped being interviewed by him on the Today show about 10 years ago because he was so creepy. … I just got a weird, weaselly vibe from the guy, and I said to my publicist, I said, ‘I don’t
want to be interviewed by him any longer.’”
Lauer was fired from NBC News and “Today” after the network received a complaint from a colleague about “inappropriate sexual behavior.”
Additional reports started rolling about Lauer’s actions, including an alleged sexual assault of an employee in his office — where he was said to have a button under his desk that locked the door.
“I do think people deserve second chances,” Leary said on “The Talk.” “But when you have a button under your desk to lock women in your office ... screw you!”
