COCO WINS BOX OFFICE FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WEEKEND

Truth rating: 10
Coco Box Office Second Weekend

Coco won the box office for the second weekend in a row. Get the details, and check out this week’s full Top 10 movies below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, Coco is the latest film from animation powerhouse Pixar. The story was inspired by the Mexican holiday Day Of The Dead, and focuses on a young boy who ends up going on a journey through the “Land Of The Dead.” The critically-acclaimed movie is already being heralded as one of 2017’s best on year-end lists, at least according to the National Board Of Review and the New York Film Critics Circle. To say it is a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination is an understatement.
And after its chart-topping debut last week, Coco is down a mere 45 percent for its second weekend. Its haul of approximately $26.1 million not only gave the film another first-place win, but it also took its total over the $100 million-mark. The news was less good for Justice League. The superhero flick has continued to underperform. That said, the DC Comics movie still ranked second with $16.6 million in ticket sales.
The film adaptation of the best-selling novel Wonder followed in the number three spot with $12.5 million. Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok earned $9.7 million, which helped it place it fourth. In the fifth position was Daddy’s Home 2, with ticket sales of $7.5 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 was Murder On The Orient Express in sixth with $6.7 million, while Lady Bird secured seventh place with $4.6 million. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri came in eighth with $4.5 million. Meanwhile, The Star nabbed ninth with $4 million. Just making it into the Top 10 in the last position was A Bad Mom’s Christmas. The comedy earned $3.5 million.
