ABACHA LOOT : JERSEY ISLAND GIVES NIGERIAN GOVT. CONDITIONS

The government of Jersey Island has given conditions for the repatriation of $300m Abacha loot to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Minister and Attorney General of Jersey Island, Robert J. MacRae, in a meeting with the chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commision, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, said the loot would only be released to Nigeria on the condition of the presence of a third party.

MacRae stated that negotiations in respect of repatriation of the $300m being part of the Abacha loot between Nigeria and Jersey Island involving the United States of America, USA, “must be government to government cooperation”.

The EFCC was accompanied at the meeting by four members of the Nigeria delegation.

The meeting took place after a session at the ongoing 7th Session of Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, holding in Vienna, Austria.
